Project superstar—towards finalsWatched the result show yesternite and was rather surprised! While I am glad that Kelly made it to the finals, I was a bit skeptical that Kelvin (the visually handicapped contestant) actually emerged as the male champion rather than junyang. Well I am not anti-Kelvin, in fact I really applaud for his courage and determination to join the competition, come thus far to realize his dream. I was immensely touched when I saw him perform on stage; especially the last song on Wednesday when he sang “Tong Hua” (fairy tale), trying to walk around on stage despite being visually challenged.
But let’s be realistic and rational. To be a real superstar, visual impairment is like a relative contraindication- you can’t have eye contact with the audience, you can’t perform as well on stage, you can’t dance naturally, you can’t communicate effectively with the crowd, though you touch people. Can we really package him up and let him be known in the music industry? I really doubt so. Junyang will fit the bill better.
Whatever it is, the decision is made. I shall support Kelly all the way, like I always do.
