well u will never get to see this, but anyway happy birthday dad =) we had a birthday dinner cum celebration yesterday, well kind of a routine/custom to have a family dinner when someone's birthday is round the corner. and i am beginning to do away with presents already these years.. somehow i dun really know what to get for my dad, and well.. i dun really know what he needs or what he wants. i guess i dun really know him well enuff, and neither of us makes the effort to do that. i remembered i bought a belt or wallet many years ago and he din use it; and eventually it became my possession heh.. ok nvmd, dun want to get too personal here.
we ate at lei garden (again- similar to my mum's celebration, just to be a bit fair; and i dun have to crack my brain to decide where to dine hahah). somehow the food wasn't that nice yesterday. and the waiter is quite annoying- kept asking whether we wanted to order or not, and when the time came, no one appeared!
* RT cover @ maju today. heng eh no patients/casualties! this is possibly the first time that there was no one seeing me haha =p. and it ended at 7.45pm!! the best RT cover so far =) got a free ride there somemore heheh
took a cab home cos i was damn tired..always tired on mondays. then this cabby started chatting about how he was a regular and why i dun want to sign up as a regular. duh. but the pleasing part of the conversation was he tot i was 18 when i told him i was half a year into army =)heh
dun really find it impressive. wouldn't recommend it. so the straits time review was right after all. it's the worst among the rest of M Night Shayamalan's creation. not too scary; not too realistic; no twists. luckily i am a safra member so got discount at GV cinemas heheh.. Sixth sense is still the best.
should have written this entry earlier, but i was really tired and sleepy yesternite, after all i din really sleep enuff for the past nite.. and i missed the ghost whisperer sighzzz, to think i am looking forward to every friday night but when the day arrives i actually fell asleep!
so we had the exercise at istana again for the second time at 1 am, but this time got quite a lot of big shots coming as observers- the star and the crabs.. i belong to the immediate response team, meaning that once activated, we (myself, the senior medic and 2 other medics) will have to rush down to the triage point b4 the rest comes within 15 minutes. the boys did very well during the deployment and they really know their stuff. quite a disciplined lot i must say. too bad i can't/didn't spend time training with them cos i have other committments as well. Not too shacked out cos the number of "casualties" wasn't that many this time round. Exercise cut at around 2am, then post-exercise briefing by the star. think i left istana at around 3+. anyway i din go home since quite late oredi and i know if i went home, i probably won't be going next morning (haha). so i spent the night in my office (the fan that i bought 2 weeks ago is finally put to good use heh)
ok going for NDP cover soon. hopefully we won't stand down too late =)
yesterday was my lunar birthday according to my mum. yup it's one day before the seventh month apparently, which is in a way lucky i guess haha =). i used to keep track of my lunar birthday when i was young till some years ago when i just can't be bothered anymore, though i still remember the date. anyway it wasn't too significant lah, so it's just another day passed.
busy this week with 6 meetings! and i foresee i will be quite busy till end of september when all my arrowed assignments finally ended. hopefully life will be more peaceful after that..
feels like a dartboard this week. full of arrows! too bad i dun have a shield or an armour =(
first, as most would have known, Indonesia is experiencing yet another disaster this week.. earthquake of ritcher scale 7.2 (an another 6.6) and tsunami took away the lives of about 525 as of today with many injuried/missing/homeless. and indeed, we are all ready to help them with a medical team on stand by ops, and we the DMSOs once again have to prepare powerpoint slides for daily updates of new events. hmm... i tot there is the news for all to follow.. dun really need a presentation ritez. anyway, dun think the team will be activated lah, cos this quake is relatively milder and less disastrous compared to the previous one.
second, i was unfortunately appointed one of the secretariats for the COC parade for CMC. more work to come i foresee...
thirdly, got a lot of emails recently from the superiors wanting this wanting that. and well i dun really know what they actually want or talk about at times. those that can wait- will wait; those that can't wait- well will try to wait. those got deadline to meet- can't wait.
and i still haven't fully recovered yet. what a nasty bug sighs... i was explaining to a patient something till i suddenly lost my voice! maybe i need antibiotics heh.
after staying in cck for almost 16 years, i went to a part which i have never been to at all before. well not that i will have any chance to go anyway. stagmont camp. din noe that it was so big. quite ulu and secluded, something like jurong camp. and the office was like so old. i think they need to tear down the whole camp and build condo there instead heh. on high grounds sure make lots of money =)
and must grab a copy of this week's i-weekly if u haven't!
watched pirates of the caribbean 2 today and i must say it really helps to have watched pirates 1 that was shown on channel 5 a week ago, cos in a way it's like a continuation of the story. A fabulous show with amazing sound effects and computer graphics, peppered with some humour. And it was full house! luckily we booked the tickets early and got good seats, else we will suffer from neckache later.
johnny depp does protray the character of cpt jack well; the show will be a bore without him. and pardon me if i am wrong, but i think elizabeth (Keira Knightley) - the female lead who was supposed to marry william turner (orlando bloom) has fallen in love with cpt jack! remembered the compass which doesn't point north but point to the one u desire? well everytime when elizabeth uses the compass, it will point to cpt jack! though in the end she still sort of "sacrifice" cpt jack, the tears do explain it all. oh yah, must stay till the end for the hidden scene (ya yet again...), though not very worthwhile haha..;)
there will be a pirates 3. and i heard chow yuen fatt will be starring in it too as a..well.. chinese pirate.

RT cover today at maju. and surprisingly there were quite a lot of people endorsing their mc/excuse letter/memo/etc.. probably the most that i have seen since i start covering for RT. lost count to how many i have seen.. probably around 10-15!! sigh, i still thought i will have time to do some reading on lipids + SMA newsletter + tabloid magazine + listening to my mp3. and it actually rained AFTER the RT has ended, on my way out of camp!
well, despite the fact that she forgot her lyrics for one song, i think it's still a considerable effort made and performed to remember so many songs that were not sung by her. she rockx! =)
is it predestined? on the day when i am the least busiest in this week, i have to fall sick. itz the same kind of illness, a sort of URTI when i will feel pain and dryness over the upper surface of my soft palate which will spread downwards into my naso and oropharynx. i hate this kind of feeling, i would prefer it progresses to the rhinorrhoea kind of picture. anyway i usually dun take cold medications but just panadol and lots of water will suffice. if got runny nose then i take clarinase. hope i will recover soon man. i can't stand sickness!
very pissed now. just received my income tax bill! sianzzzz i tot i don't have to pay one. dammit. i should have claimed relief for my tuition fee loan then which i have spent so much on.. and no point claiming this year cos i definitely won't have to pay with the miserable sum of allowance we get.
damn i am really very pissed now the more i think about it. and i ask my sis how come she didn't tell me about the annual income limit that we have to pay income tax; and she said "i tot it is well-known..." bloody hell, not obvious to me lor.. first time paying tax.
i am eating mango now.. yum yum =) and i hate jams.
i remembered last time kindergarten english exam (yea i have photographic memory, esp things that i want to remember), we were supposed to match the word with the picture shown; one of the questions showed a kite, but unfortunately, i wrote JAM instead. and i think the teacher deducted 10 marks for this despite correct answers for the rest!? quite silly rite me...=p
and today, i had a meeting in NUS at 8.30am, and unfortunately i woke up quite late (slept late last nite), and i decided to call a cab instead. i hopped on the cab at around 8am, and reached my destination at 9.10am!!! rainy weather, and a massive jam at AYE! somemore got traffic accident along AYE too... and my cab fare was 24 bucks!! damn i might as well take public transport and it will be much cheaper and i can even reach there earlier. lesson learnt hummph.. lucky my boss was later than me heheh.
that day when i was on my way back on a bus, when the bus reached the terminal, everybody alighted except one young girl who was sitting there motionless. sleeping i thought. so being a nice citizen and yet without outraging her modesty, i gave a tap on her shoulder. but she still remained motionless. deep sleep i thought. so i gave a harder tap and shook her a bit, but she still refused to move. omg i tot she has collapsed! i tot finally my BCLS-certified skill has come into real action (well...outside the confines of hospital walls that is). then come the bus driver, who shook her vigorously and suddenly she opened her eyes! then i quickly walked down the steps and left, since not my business anymore.
...and the winner goes to italy! thankz to Zidane =( can't believe he actually did the head-butt! 4th world cup for italy! used to be one of my fav when Baggio was still around heh..
but then again, he got the golden ball award. and i think he well deserves it.
and the golden shoe goes to Klose from germany who scored 5 goals. well he deserves it too, after all, he was close to getting it 4 years ago in his debut.
once again the whole exercise started at 1 am (and we have to be there at 11pm btw) and ended at around 4am. i took a cab down to national stadium and i recognised the cab driver! i remembered i had taken his cab before months ago, becos of the distinctive incense smell. how often do u actually take the same cab? hmm... very coincidental. and this carpark G is quite hard to find, hidden behind kallang theatre. and there seems to be a concert going on cos there was a heavy jam outside with various people of various nationality.
somehow co-ordination between different organisation seems to be lacking. despite the fact that meeting and discussion have been held prior to the event, the other organisation never fails to surprise us with their sudden change in deployment and arrangement! if thatz the case, what is the point of discussion? and what is the point for after action review? yes we may be providing a supportive role, but at least dun suka suka change plans lah. sighz..
just reached home not too long ago.. feeling damn hot, but now i am clean after a nice hot bath haha
cj is back from his overseas attachment for his summer vacation, so a group of us gathered for a steamboat dinner at liang seah street; dessert near there; drink at raffles hotel long bar bar and billard room, and Mac eventually.
well maybe not the longest, but definitely one of the longest since i started slaving from March (minus the calls and extra cover of cos). i actually woke up at 5.30am, left home at 6.30 and reached camp at 7.30am. all unfamiliar faces on the way to work cos different group of crowd. but i was like a walking zombie..damn tired sighz.
need to reach camp early cos i was anticipating a group of volunteers (who are combat medic trainees) to donate their blood for one of my research projects. tot there will be 30 initially from the course commander but ended up with only 12 =(. but well, itz quite surprising that people will volunteer for such things oredi with no incentives, so..
afternoon got a long meeting and i am glad it is over phew! =) and of cos i saw a lot of arrows flying down.
think my nokia 7210 is dying soon. keeps showing the error msg "insert SIM card" or "SIM card rejected". well it was quite old oredi anyway, and it was one of the first polyphonic phone with colour display in the market. suffered quite a number of concussion from the dropping, so no surprise that it will be damaged sooner or later. so dun blame me for bringing my camera phone into the camp next time.. after all, like what my fren said, even a COL carries camera phone in the camp.
i read that Comfort is increasing the cab fare and apparently quite a huge jump, esp if u book a cab or when u flag a cab during peak hours. now i must memorise the phone number for SMRT cabs since it is cheaper (for the time being). and maybe also numbers for those other cab company like silvercab, the green cab with a bird logo, transcab or sth like dat.
yawnzzz sleepy now. severely lack of sleep these few days. slept late and woke up early. i hate the feeling when i have to force myself up from the bed early in the morning=( if only everything can be natural.
the semi-finalists. i hope portugal will win haha, cos i think they haven't won the game for quite some time oredi. other than getting close to winning in the last euro cup. ohh and portugese egg tarts are nice! =)
went to a chinese restaurant yesterday for dinner with my family. and we had chilli crabs again yeay =)..though not as nice as no-signboard ones. apparently they have other ways of cooking, like fried with salted egg, and the common ones. but well..not too adventurous yet..
at the end of the dinner, this waitress passed us a feedback form to fill in, so my sis went ahead. when she came to collect it, she said "can u fill in my name on this blank?" we looked, and realised the question on the form states "nominate the best waitress for the month." Errrr... ok... can like that one eh? i tot it is our choice to fill or not. and she demonstrated her last effort by helping me pour the tea!
ok so May Gao(the waitress' name), if u r reading this (i dun think so), well this is not the way lor. thatz too fake oredi!
