Got involved in an RTA today at around 1.20pm, outside nee soon camp. My buddy and I drove out for lunch and were on our way back to camp already… was trying to negotiate a right turn at a cross junction when this motorcyclist did not stop and keep on riding forward from the opposite direction! Luckily we were all traveling at low speed so he just skidded slightly and landed on his knee; while my buddy’s car plate got knocked off and suffered a few scratches too. Sianz damn suay and troublesome. Spent the whole afternoon waiting for his employer to come (well he is an employee trying to send some mails or what), settling insurance stuff, going to IDAC, making police reports...
Then again, I think the motorcyclist is even more suay. Not only did he sustain injuries, he also need to compensate for our loss (since he is in the wrong and we are in the right of way) and furthermore, his employer doesn’t seem to care about him and he has to settle everything himself. Sad case. This will probably cost him 2 months of his pay.
Anyway, it is quite an experience. In fact this is like the first RTA that I am directly involved in (though I am just the passenger lah…)
oh yah. my handphone reminded me that today is the birthday of my blogging. yupz i started this blogging business 3 years ago after my year 4 exams. As far as i can remember, that time was the SARS period and we were quite free after exams. Though there are periods when i write a lot and there are months when i just din bother to type, i am both glad and surprised that it is still in existance!
So happy birthday, and hopefully this will go on as far as my brain and fingers allow me to =)
dumpling festival is coming soon i think, cos today the old cleaner of our office gave us some dumplings which she made herself apparently. come to think of it, it's been quite a long time since i last ate.. probably last year's festival. i prefer the white one to the black one, less peppery.
that day i watched my recorded last 2 episodes of drama cast by the superstars. has been on call the past 2 thursday thatz why can't watch it. quite a touching story i must say.. kinda like this show =) too bad end already sighzz. and i like the song!
i just got to know that one (or rather 2) of my sec school friends got ROM already through friendster! ok lah.. i guess the friendship just drifted apart since jc and even further after uni. in fact, i can't even remember when was the last time we had a gathering. probably a year back. anyway congrats to both of them; and i know this day will come la...
May is coming to an end. somehow this month seems to pass very fast, maybe becos i was working too hard heh. but i dun think i enjoy much though... i din catch those movies in town yet; i din do enough shopping for things which i thought i want to have; i din really meet up people for lunch or dinner; i din really tok much to my family either. hmm.. not very healthy =(
should come up with a wish-list and to-do list when i am free, and since the great singapore sale is round the corner, i shall make full use of it. and i also think i need to pick up some books to study soon before i forget all my stuff. ok ok, maybe i should just stop procrastinating and go to sleep now.
well when i am damn bored, i will play those microsoft window games like solitarie, spider solitarie, hearts and minesweeper (yea i can be that bored at times...). And when i upgraded windows some years ago to XP, i begin to play pinball as well, which i find quite difficult to promote to higher levels.
lately, i discovered a website, thanks to mrspeaker, that unveils a crack/cheat code for pinball! yes even pinball has a crack..
"Load up the game and type the words "hidden test". Looks pretty normal? Well, as your ball is flyin’ ’round, click on the pinball machine. Drag your mouse around. The ball follows your every command - blatantly ignoring the laws of gravity we have come to expect it to follow!
There’s more too. The “hidden test” mode has a bunch of functions put in there to help the developers out during the game’s creation. Here’s ones I found, or can see in the code: h: Shows the high-score table, with an entry of 1,000,000,000 for you to put your name next to.
m: Shows the amount of system memory
r: Increases your “rank” in the gamey: Shows the game frame rate in the title"
Try it! Quite cool! but now that i know this cheat code, my enthusaium for the game has dropped drastically..hummph =(
ok tot it is time for me to change song again heh.. and since i have 2 primary school friends celebrating their birthdays this month, i shall play a song of that era. ya i am that old =p... one of those hottest songs then.. probably 15 yrs ago!
sianzzzz... i received a call today to tell me that i have the free tickets to the movie screening tomorrow at suntec. but unfortunately i am on call tomorrow!!! so suay. i should have requested for no-call tomorrow if only i know. not the first time oredi.. last time i also gana call on days when they have movie screening, annual dinner etc etc.. guess i just have to fork out my own money if i really want to watch =(
SINGAPORE: Indonesia's Mount Merapi volcano has erupted, spewing clouds of hot gas and ash. The mountain "has exploded already", the head of the Merapi section at the Centre of Vulcanological Research and Technology in Yogyakarta said. He cautioned, however, that Merapi's eruption process could be gradual rather than a sudden burst, and that the massive eruption scientists fear had yet to come.
According to the Indonesian national Antara news agency, the volcano erupted at 0540 am local time (2240 GMT Sunday). Weeks before the eruption, there had been intense activity at the 2,914-metre (9,560-foot) peak in the densely-populated Central Java province. Blazing lava had been oozing down the slopes of Merapi and on Saturday, vulcanologists raised Merapi's alert status, triggering the evacuation of thousands of people from its fertile slopes. But many others had been defying orders for a mandatory evacuation and were insisting on staying in their homes.
As clouds of deadly hot ash, rock fragments and volcanic gas surged down Merapi's slopes on Monday, some nearby villagers scurried for safety. Grey ash covered crop fields and hundreds of rooftops in the area of Ketep, 10 km (six miles) from the base of the mountain, and many houses appeared deserted after residents evacuated. Not everyone was gone, however. Some people cleaned ashes off their houses and others opened shops, while commercial mini-buses continued to run. As ash rained down on villages around the mountain, schoolchildren in uniform hurried to class, covering their noses and mouths.
Officials have not released overall figures for the number of people who are considered to be in the immediate danger zone, but Vice President Yusuf Kalla said last week that about 34,000 were considered to be at risk. Merapi last erupted in 1994, killing 66 people. - CNA
Anyway, a side-point- we have sort of like prepared for this/on stand by for like almost 2-3 weeks already! and i also dunno whether this is considered full eruption or not...
What a tiring week! So tired that i slept immediately when i reached home for the past 2 days.. lucky today can come home early and rest. thought i will come online and do stuff like checking emails and blogging b4 some quality sleep.
i was looking thru the review and realised that a lot of good movies are coming up! first we have MI3 (which i haven't even watched!! :( ), next we have Xmen3 and da vinci code! all blockbuster type which i muz watch. come to think of it, the last time i watched movie was quite some time back.. i can't even remember what movie was that! hopefully i will be able to get the free tix for da vinci code..
ok, album for the week goes to 杨丞琳's 遇上爱. the songs are quite nice actually, and my personal favourite for now is 左边. Click the 'play' button on realplayer on the right side bar to listen.
Not much surprises in stall for us as the result is the same compared to 5 yrs ago- PAP won 82 out of 84 seats and the parties occupying the remaining 2 seats remain unchanged. Hmmm... initially i thought PP SMC will be won over by PAP, judging from the fact that the gap was quite close 5 years ago. Guess i was wrong. A good effort put in by Sylvia lim though, and i hope she will become the NCMP.
i think i should start to post more entries now since i have no more excuses of slow internet connection, though sometimes u also need the inspiration to type, which is usually quite short-lived for me. and i doubt a lot of people will read anyway since i din really tell people about my blog heh. i guess one of the main aims for this blog is to remind thyself what happened to thyself 10 years down the road, if this still exists that is.
These days my mum seems to be infatuated with all sorts of spa/massage toys, after she visited my aunt few days back. Apparently my aunt has quite a lot of these kind of massagers (eg: footspa, back massager, eye massager etc), so she showed and demostrated to my mum, whom likes it so much that she keeps telling me and my sis about it EVERY day. hummph. i think she is hinting me to buy for her to use. Maybe i should, since mother's day is coming =)
ok, share a song now. Quite an old song, probably 6 months old, but is still one of my favourite. Quite meaningful too. On your speaker as u all should be able to listen to this song when the page has loaded, though it may sound muffled cos i dun want the file to be too big and impede download process ;)
I remembered buying this 完美的一天 album before i was re-enlisted then, and was looking forward to book out every weekend so that i can listen to this album. Hah =) Haven't been listening to this for quite some time, so it kind of rekindles memories of those days, esp now i see my fellow comrades in the camp..
forgot to mention that i have been having this terrible headache for the past 2 days. it is right sided over the parietal area, throbbing in nature, aggravated by pressing on it and relieved by sleeping. There is no radiation. Pain score- 6/10. The cause is most likely pimple on my head. Everytime whenever i have pimples from the eyebrows upwards, i will have this kind of headache. sianzzzz. Not to mention that i have to sit through this 2.5 hours of meeting with my head and headache. Head as in my superior. Anyway i left immediately after the meeting, can't take it anymore =(~~
These 2 days, i saw 2 teachers marking test papers on a train. This brings me to the point of this entry; and rekindles my memories hah. One of my childhood ambition/aspiration is to become a teacher. Somehow during that time around primary school days, i found it very cool to mark using a red pen, give marks, give comments like "good/fair/very good/well done/poor", chop stars, paste those stickers of stars and correct any mistakes. I still remembered i even bought the star chop (which was very popular last time) which cost around 9.90 bucks. And sometimes i even set questions for myself to do =)
I think i still like to mark. The last time i did this was when i gave tuition to a primary 6 kid and bought him some assessment books. Hmmm.. that was like 4-5yrs ago! Anyway rite now i am far from my childhood ambition. But i have thought of some ways which i can get closer to it: 1) be a lecturer next time pre-retirement, maybe COFM or sth. but the problem is no one will appreciate my marking, cos they wun get to take back the scripts =( 2) give tuition! but surely my time can be better spent elsewhere rite... 3) find someone who teaches, get married and i can help to mark her scripts! =)
finally had a long break after "working" for some time.. i can't remember when was the last time i had such a long break. and i will have to wait quite a while before my next long break (unless i take leave lah..)
finally finished watching harry potter and the globet of fire (VCD)! In fact this is the 3rd time i am watching this, and for the previous 2 times, i watched till i fell asleep! not that it was boring or what, i was just tired and sleepy then.
hmm.. this superband thingy seems quite interesting.. showing the result show now. shall go and catch it.
