the past 2 weeks have been quite peaceful for me; but unfortunately good times dun stay for too long, so it is back to serious work again.
was on call yesterday- haven't done weekend calls for quite long actually; the last time i did was on 3rd day of chinese new year. I hate doing weekend calls, cos it seems so long and draggy, and u will have this lonesome feeling as nobody is around except all the poor souls who need to spend their weekends in the camp.
anyway i have my day planned beforehand so that i can at least preoccupied myself with stuff to keep the day going. 1)unacccomplished staff work; 2)read my textbook; 3)lunch and dinner; 4)swim; 5)run; 6)wash my car; 7)do online MCQs.
At the end of the day, i managed to do some staff work, read a page of textbook, had lunch from outside and dinner inside, washed my car (though not too thorough..), so some online MCQs and ran 2 rounds around the camp complex. i din manage to swim cos the swimming pool was unfortunately locked. And unfortunately it rained so my car-washing effort has somewhat gone into waste.
Somehow everytime when i am alone in the office i will feel groggy. think it is the lack of oxygen to the brain, cos the office's aircon is controlled by a central switch, i.e., it will not be in operation after office hours/weekends/PH. And till then, i am still trying to find out in vain how to turn on the aircon. Lucky i bought a fan previously.
My sunday wasn't too free either. and now i am so god-damn tired.. that i can fall asleep within 10 seconds with my contact lenses on.
new week and first day of the week, but somehow we are all very happy becos there is no one to push us around and say "meeting now". heh.. and i managed to clean up my office table today! this is the 2nd time i am doing this. the first time was when i first came after my upperstudy has left, on my first weekend call. this is probably the last time i am going to clean anyway.
now my table looks much neater and cleaner, after i get rid of those silverfish and dust. and i moved some of those files that i hope i won't need them so often to below my table so as to create more space for me to write and read. and i also hope that no one will be there to mess up my stuff when i am away.
* ok the fourth song from stefanie sun's album that manages to catch my attention:
so finally we have a CG gathering (CG = clinical group, ie, tutorial group equivalent when we were in the university). 80% of the group members turned up ;)... while i label this as a CG gathering, in reality, we knew one another more than just being CG mates. some of us were friends before we entered JC anyway. but it is also good to..well.. tell other people that we have a gathering; we still keep in touch etc etc =) and of cos, thanks to the organiser ck who made everything possible. all i have to do is just go there and eat! (and pay =p)
We went to this Kushin Bo japanese restaurant located in the sky garden of suntec. and yup it's my first time there although i have been to suntec umpteen times but it never really crossed my mind to have meal at the sky garden. usually we went basement. somemore my family dun really like jap food, so..
luckily we made reservations, cos when we reached there at around 6.30pm, there was quite a long queue outside. hmmm... seems like singaporeans nowadays are very willing to spend on an expensive meal. yup this buffet style jap dinner cost around 30++ per head, but i guess once in a while that's okay; somemore the ambience is nice for us to eat and talk cock for hours till it closes.
food wise- i can't complain much. then sashimi are fresh and not fishy; and they have this one hour special every now and then where they will announce over the PA system that they are going to serve some big succulent juicy lobsters/ice-cream/etc for the first 20 customers on a first-come-first-serve basis! (reminds me of OG the shopping mall!!) the minor disappointment is that they dun serve miso soup... or i din manage to find it. come to think of it, i dun think i ate 30 bucks worth of food.
and we met XT coincidentally, who is now better known as irving. one of our RVHS-HCJC friends whom eventually decides to do law instead of the stereotype MD like us. The last time we met him for lunch was actually not too long ago.. probably 1 year back or less. anyway, if u happen to read this: keep in touch dude!
we had an early celebration dinner for my mum's birthday yesterday as everybody is around and available. went to the new branch of no signboard restaurant at vivocity and yeah.. had my favourite chilli crab after so long, together with other seafood like sea cucumber, fish and prawn. the tedious part about eating crabs is that it makes the whole place (and that includes your hands and fingernails) damn messy. but heckz, who cares so long u have a sumptuous meal =)
and as usual, vivocity is very crowded and the open space at the 3rd floor is like a mini picnic gathering for a lot of family. quite a suitable place to enhance family cohesiveness.. but kinda dark though, luckily the pool was quite shallow else can be quite a hazard.
and in case i din manage to clock in an entry later, happy birthday to mum in advance!
probably one of the better GOOD friday this year, other than the fact that it is one of the 11 public holidays in singapore. the good news- my immediate boss is on leave for 2 weeks and everybody in the department is extremely delighted. (despite that before he left, he gave us hell lot of work to do!!)
* third song in the <逆光> album that is one of my fav: < 咕叽咕叽>
let's wake up in the morning let's go to bed at night let's make hay in the big sunshine yea we'll make hay in the light let's bury all our hatchets let us get along let's hold our hands and save the world let's not
somehow the day ended tremendously fast today, before we knew it, it was 5.20pm oredi.. time to pack up and go home. anyway, every branch in the HQ was given 70 dollars worth of NTUC vouchers (of reasons i am not too sure, but heck, does it really matter?!), so we spent our lunchtime at one NTUC outlet shopping for lots and lots of titbits and paid a total of $70.10! heheh, finally managed to top up our supply =) then again, it wasn't really a lot of stuff. conclusion- titbits can be expensive, esp those imported.
this entry is classified as SECRET, cos we dun want a lot of people to know and become parasites of our branch. and we have safely hidden up these groceries somewhere. We do believe in give and take though =p.
finally can rest today! ie i am literally free for the whole day with no activities planned as yet. looking back, i have been slogging for quite a while with no proper time of my own. but i can't complain, cos after all, i planned my own schedule and if there is anyone i want to blame, there would be myself. Of cos, on every flip side, there will be some form of gain, which, well.. i shan't divulge in view of potential jealousy and envy haha..
attended two of my classmates' wedding dinner yesterday at fullerton. (yup, it's one of those intra-faculty friends-turned-couple relationship that happens so very often esp in our year- i can easily name ten pairs!) Quite a grand dinner i must say, and they even serve u each individual plate so u dun have to stand up and take yourselves. the only down-side is you can have additional share haha. food is nice (minus the fried rice though..) It is always interesting to meet people whom u haven't talked to for quite a while; after all, we (ie: the army guys) have been secluded in this organisation for almost 16 months! And to jp and f, congrats and may happiness and bliss be with u =)
driving to fullerton from my place was a bit of a challenge actually, after all, i have never driven there before, and to date, i haven't driven to town too since i am still a 3-month newbie. but i am glad we eventually made our way there and back, after making some unnecessary turns though.
