yeah!! finally after so long my car has arrived and i picked it up yesterday evening from the workshop at mandai estate, which is quite near my place. the unfortunate part was it was raining quite heavily, and well i dun really have much experience driving in the rain yet; and my new car has to get wet... but other than that everything went on fine. and well therez still a long way to get to know her better; and a lot of new places that i need to bring her to (or rather, she needs to bring me to =p)
another thing... couldn't get the season parking near my place cos somehow it is fully booked! sighz, so have to park in a multi-storey carpark which is slightly further. hopefully i can get the car park i want at the next available date.
and finally, thanks to everyone who makes the birth of jazzie possible from the day i decide to get a car... the opinion, advice, encouragement, discouragement, company, etc; esp to my cbrd bros who really provide me with lots of input. thanks guys!
boxing day! what is it so called? i really have no idea.. perhaps the day when people first started boxing? or the day people opening up the boxes of presents they received on christmas?
spent the day in sentosa preparing for my buddy's proposal which he has planned since some time back before we went on leave (oh ya.. if i haven't mentioned previously, i took another stretch of leave till new year in view that i need to clear them). the unfortunate part was that it rained the whole day and night, so it was a bit difficult to bring down the stuff and decorate the place; otherwise everything went on smoothly =); well at least the surprise was still there heh..
ok shan't mention more here since itz the special chapter of your life; just wanna to congrat u buddy, u & sl make a perfect match =) dedicate this post to both of u and may happiness be with u all alwayz.
woohh exceptionally sunny today (well at least in the morning..) after days of rain.. should have woken up earlier but well who doesn't want to wake up late if they have a choice =)
joined a xmas party yesterday.. and gosh there is so much food! eat until very full!! and got kids for me to play with heheh.. got present xchange too and i got a piggy bank.. lets see how long i need to get it fill up. i remembered the last time i got a real ceramic piggy bank was like when i was in kindergarten; and it was those old kind where once u insert the coins, u can't get them out unless u broke it. and oh well.. eventually i broke it somehow when there was a financial crisis sighzz =(.. thereafter i dun think i saved coins anymore.
wow spent quite a bomb today cos i was in a shopping spree mood.. well mainly stuff for myself hahah.. things which i have been wanting to buy for a long time but haven't really put into action to go and shop for them. heh consider these as my christmas presents!
bought a pair of casual shoes cos my oldest pair is falling apart; and my newest pair is not too comfy to wear and gets too wet when caught in the rain. initially wanted to get a pair of "semi-formal" shoes, so that i can wear for both formal and non-formal functions, but after trying various pairs, i still find this one the best, in terms of comfort and asethetics:
Also bought a new pair of shades, sunscreen and non-slip mat in anticipation of the arrival of my new babe =)
had swenson for dinner - sigh.. one of the worst experience.. waiting time is long, waiters/waitresses seem overwhelmed, forgot our orders, rowdy children running about... and no discount!
there was a blackout this afternoon for about 45 minutes at quite a few places, my estate included.. i wasn't at home then and my mum called me to tell me about it, though there is nothing i can do anyway. luckily the electric supply came back before i was home, else i will have to climb the stairs (not that i mind; after all we have been climbing 9 storeys of stairs up and down back then for x times when we were still cadets =p)
so wet and cold these few days!! esp 19 dec, it rained the whole day and it was reported that the single day was one of the 3 wettest day over the past 75 years. the road outside my camp was flooded and some vehicle even got stuck there; and evening there was a tree which fell and blocked off the whole road.
Perhaps one consolation is that these few days i spent most of the time in camp, and stayed in too, cos i was on call for 3 days on alternate days. and guess what, the rain was so heavy that the ceiling above me while i was sleeping collapsed! luckily it didn't hit my head (it's like a foot away) else i will have to write hospitalisation report for myself..
oh yes. it's the festive season peppered with 3 holidays down the week, and i am taking my last stretch of leave heh (clearing them before they got scrapped off). so merry christmas to everybody who bothers to read till here =)
i have taken my first refresher driving lesson after so long.. and i think the skill is coming back haha though my friends are still not very keen for me to drive their cars sighz. but can't deny that initially i still feel a bit nervous especially in heavy traffic. anyway i will probably need one or two more lessons before my red hot babe arrives in about 3 weeks time! can't wait for that to happen.
i am now coming up with a list of things to do/buy/ensure in preparation for her to come- 1) buy cashcard 2) buy season parking coupon 3) buy parking coupons ++ 4) sunshield cover for windscreen and steering wheel 5) shades 6) tissue box 7) non-slip mat for boot 8) umbrella 9) torchlight 10) handsfree set/bluetooth 11) pen/paper 12) membership card for petrol kiosk 13) extra tyre 14) danger triangle sign
The once-every-3-months computer fair is here again from 30 Nov to 3 Dec at Expo. well i dun really have anything important to buy this time round, though there are a lot of techno stuff which i consider "good to have" (not "must have"), and these include:
1) laptop -but i figure that i probably won't make much use of it (like my PDA), after all, i am now in army and i can't bring in a personal laptop officially. probably will get one before i ord.
2) webcam -the one that i have is kind of cheapo and resolution isn't very good. but then again, i dun really use it that often..
3) digicam -well i already have one; but perhaps it's time to upgrade to a 7 megapixel with 5x optical zoom? heh =)
4) ipod or equivalent -my ishuffle broke down 2 months ago and i have yet to get a new one cos i am using my PDA as a substitute. but it is kind of bulky and using a PDA for music reminds me of bringing a walkman.
5) HP -this is probably the most important of the list, cos the current non-camera phone that i am using is nokia7210... yup itz that old, and it is like falling apart. the battery life is running out (i need to charge almost everyday; and itz just not worth it to get a new battery); the volume control is spoilt- i can only up the volume but not down; i can't play mp3 ringtone, so my current ringtone is still yanzi's tian hei hei midi version.
but i think it is unwise to buy a new non-camera phone for the sake of army. i hope this N7210 will last me till i ord please...
6) DVD recorder -something which i want to have at the back of my mind..
anyway i went to Expo on friday and it was quite crowded even at odd timings. yup the carpark is full and we have to park elsewhere. really hated crowds.. makes me vertiginous. eventually i managed to get a portable maxtor 100GB hard drive for me to back up all my valuable documents, photos, music etc etc. so at least it's not a wasted trip heheh =p
