Clear-out
7 days time and i will be back to the army camp.
7 days time and i will finish my current clinical posting.
7 years have passed since i last wore my army no.4 and now i have to start digging out when i have kept all my stuff.
After been disrupted for 7 years, i dun really have desire to go back to military life but then i dun really have much choice. To search all my stuff was tough - my uniform, T-shirts, bag, helmet, boots, socks, field camp tins, water-bottles, rope, SBO, etc... i dun even know whether i have missed out anything or not. But thanks to my mum who managed to keep everything tidy and in-place in the store room so i dun have too much trouble=)
While i was going through the items in the store-room, i was astonished to see some of my secondary school and JC materials there! Must have accidentally left behind during the last pack years ago. Looking through them, hmm.. realised that we were all quite brillant then! We learnt very cheem stuff then. Imagine knowing the formula for finding centripedal force and differentiate logarithm functions, memorising Macbeth... I can't imagine how i have been through those days!
Then i found my sec 3-4 chemistry and maths tuition materials (gave tuition during my medical school years). Was still contemplating whether i should dump all these, in case i suddenly want to give tuition again. But then again, i dun think so la.. quite miserably paid; and if i am really very free subsequently, i should 1) study for exams 2) locum around 3) sleep.
I kept one of my sec4 maths files (the one which contains my best test results heh..) eventually and threw the rest away. To remind me of the good times.

ba jin passed away
read from the news that ba1 jin1 passed away.
those who studied chinese literature (like me in my sec school days); or had a flair of chinese arts should be quite familiar with him being a famous writer. Some of his famous works include the 2 trilogies that he wrote- one of them is jia, chun, qiu (house, spring and autumn) and the other i can't remember. I think i have read the jia story if i am not wrong, though i can't remember any storyline at all. btw my ex C Lit teacher also passed away not too long ago (i found out from the obituaries then)......
anyway, C Lit sux.. it's all about memorising! can't imagine i actually survived those days.. but the advantage is that i still remember some of those famous lines in poetry; and i am quite impressed by myself =)

on leave
trying to clear leave before going back to serve the nation on 7/11/2005.
can't believe i actually fall sick during this period! if only i know in advance, i should take sick leave instead and gain some extra days of leave.
anyway, no major happenings in my life.
saw this primary 6 PSLE maths question in Sunday times today, which was the talk of the town now, being a flaw in national paper:
thought it's a pretty straightforward question. actually if the students don't think too hard or deep into the question (which should be the case since this is after all a P6 paper), they should be able to get the answer with ease. but i guess kids nowadays are pretty clever, cleverer than they should be. The flop appeared when one tries to work backwards to find out the area of all rectangles and check for consistency. (wth, isn't this a MCQ? why would one bother to check backwards after they have gotten the answers?). anyway, this is a mathematically unsound question to put it.
BTW, sun yanzi's new album is out, so please grab a copy before it runs out of stock!
