tomorrow is SAF day. today we got this ceremony in the auditorium where they delivered the SAF speech written by defence minister. initially it was supposed to be a parade but somehow they changed it to a ceremony, which is good.. dun have to wear beret. we waited for around 30 mins for the ceremony to start and it takes 5 mins for everything to end. lucky i have some games (bounce, triple pop and dai dee)in my hp to kill my boredom while waiting.
took a look at my schedule for next month and damn sianzz.. quite a busy month ahead. 2 RT covers, 4 calls, weekend NDP rehearsals, IMF rehearsals, meetings. sian. and i have quite a lot of backlog of work to be done too.
today is the match between argentina and germany. i support argentina, and apparently these 2 teams have competed against each other for 11 times oredi, with argentina winning 5x and germany winning 1x. but sigh, germany has the advantage of playing in their own grounds, terrain and weather. i think the germans will win unfortunately. hopefully i am wrong.
i have kaira on my office table now.. so i think i better start to do some reading soon. have forgotten a lot of stuff oredi. i can't even remember all the causes of hypoNa now!!! =(

finally collected my new specs after 1-2 weeks, so next time can wear post call and dun have to wear my obiang gold-rim specs liao. it shall officially retire.
recently read the news of mavis hee, the has-been singer who was quite popular in the 90s, almost on par with kit chan then, but disappeared for a couple of years. apparently she was arrested in some 6 star hotel in marina for inappropriate behaviour; she was shouting away, telling people to "call me god"! wondered what happened.. she was admitted to IMH, and i think she is still there.. dunno whether i can get any sensational info from my frens in IMH or not. anyway i must admit that some of her songs then were quite nice, though i dun have any of her albums. shall feature one of my favourites on this website.
i had a strange and interesting dream yesterday. must be becos of poor-quality sleep in the ops room. i dreamt of cj, em and af who were in brunei taking exams ( i think itz mbbs =p) and all 3 got distinctions! then we flew over to celebrate and take photos with them. and somehow lionel lee (the ex-CMC) was the principal and he was giving away certificates to them.. hmm.. then i woke up and realised that it was 7.15am!
both argentina and germany got into top 8, and unfortunately they will be competing against each other to fight for semifinal position. sighz.. tough fight, though i hope argentina will win. itz being quite sometime since they last got into semifinals or finals oredi.. but playing in german grounds with the germans can be quite tricky, besides they were the runner up 4 yrs back. keep fingers crossed.
and guess what, there is a 3rd GI outbreak this year, and yes, i happened to be on call again... damn suay.
and i broke my old pair of spectacles! as if it has realised that i have made a new pair so itz time for it to retire... come to think of it, this old pair really lasted me quite long! should be more than 5 years haha. only the part where it supports on the nose is broken, so by rite i can still wear it if i want to =p

quite a hectic day and night man. we have this exercise yesterday night, or rather this morning (codename modified in view of sensitivity) in the palace in preparation of the major upcoming event. well we are supposed to know how to deal and treat with causalties with chemical-agent/bomb-associated injuries, so in events when there are terrorism or chemical warfare, we will have the capability to control the situation.
so the whole exercise was supposed to start at 1am, but we need to be there at 10.30pm. btw, it's a combined exercise with external forces. damn hot in MOPP suit! i think i am suffering from dehydation oredi cos my lips are peeling and ya know, got the dry-dry kinda feeling. tot i drank enuff before the event.
i was the MO for the 2nd team, so rightfully i become the vehicle commander for the team since i am the biggest shot around.. heez first time occupying the front passenger seat in a five tonner =). and ya, my first time visit to the palace too (and it has to be in this situation!) anyway at 1am, it started to rain heavily, so initially i tot they are going to cancel the event (which is both good and bad)- good in a way cos i am quite hungry and sleepy at that time oredi; bad cos everything is like planned way before and quite wasted if we'll have to call off. subsequently we continued the deployment lah, cos weather turned slightly fairer a bit.
i guess it is considered quite successful in a way. no major cock-ups. most of the medics are quite zai and mugged the points well. but then again, the scenarios were quite straight-forward to begin with, and i dun see the need to intubate anybody for that matter. Exercise cut at around 4am.
Then we went for a very early breakfast at a 24h mac, in my obiang attire (MOCC polo-tee, short shorts and boots!) yea i removed my MOPP suit of cos. and the guy who took our orders was, well, quite niao3 with attitude. but anyway, enjoyed my breakfast, went back to camp to bathe and sleep till 8.45am, and left for home.
yup and this kind of late-night exercise is going to repeat again for a couple of times before the real event happens.
i took a cab home cos it was quite late; i am quite tired; i am on call tomorrow. had this interesting conversation with the taxi-driver.
Driver: nowadays girls are very rough and ill-mannered. me: why? Driver: i just sent 2 girls home, and the way they speak are very rough me: they scold vulgarities? Driver: yes, and they speak like men me: oh.. Driver: then before they alighted, they asked me whether they are rough. me: oh.. maybe they worked in ktv lounge or something Driver: no they are not. those prostitutes (?did i say that?) will not swear in public. becos they don't want other people to look down on them in public. me: that's true. (feeling a bit cheeky) have u ever fetched prostitutes home and they ask whether u want extra services? Driver: yes i have prostitutes as passengers before, but i won't accept these requests. me: oh.. Driver: but i do have female passengers who refused to pay. me: then get something from them in return la. Driver: they don't have anything with them. but they offered to give me their undergarments. will u accept them? me:... oh uncle, turn left after the next traffic light junction.
* anyway, watched silent hill today. quite scarce in terms of number of audience. not very impressive or scary. in fact i think it is more gruesome than scary. too much blood and gore. i won't recommend it lah. probably 2.5 out of 5. and i think i shall stop watching horror movies from now, cos most of them are not scary as the preview perceives.

had an interesting conversation with my fellow hqmc mates today which i thought was quite funny, well.. though u may not think so. but first of all, i am not an animal hater or what; nor am i not compassionate =)
we were talking about animals having illnesses like us human beings, eg cancer, IHD, etc, and by rite we should be able to treat them if we want. mastectomy for breast ca, give diuretics for heart failure. my friend was saying that once he saw his dog foaming away (i kept picturing this scene in mind and tot it was quite funny...)and breathless, ie in pulmonary edema, and was eventually put to sleep.
so the question is whether it is really worthwhile to treat. risk-benefit. heal vs relieve suffering. severity of illness and aftermath. money. and of cos, the importance and implication of treating the pet in your life. but oh well, i dun have a pet, so i can't comment what i would really do if this sort of thing happens.
* oh btw, i was in MOPP 4 today! and more to come.. hiakzzzz sian. think i will be hypoxic in time to come. and unfortunately we were actively involved in IMF, well this is heavily publicised over the news recently.. the 4million smiles project thingy... shan't elaborate further cos this is classified as SECRET. haha =p
* today da chang jin's final episode over channel u. well i am not an avid fan, but my mum and sis are, so the common topic of interest nowadays would be evolving around chang jin. (hmm sounds like my name come to think of it!) so anyway with all the conversation, i roughly noe what happens in the story lah.. though i still dun really find it that impressive ;P but since it is the last episode, shall give it a chance =)

i went to CD shop today to browse through any good collections that i may have missed out for the past week, then i noticed tanya's latest album, which happens to be her new release cum compilation! dun think there were any advertisements around yet, but tanya does have a wonderful vocal and she composes well too. for that i do appreciate some of the songs she sings. really talented!
her first album, or rather, first song that i have encountered was "breathe" and well, quite extraordinary. but what really caught my ears was this song called "好无聊"-aka bored. that time was during my medic days, introduced by one of my fellow mates... yeah that was like 7 years ago, in ulu pandan camp, and it kept ringing in my head then, even during guard duty heh. maybe bcos it really described my situation and mood at that time.. yeah bored. the second song was "true love". that was during year 1 or 2 into nus oredi. cool song with meaningful lyrics. even till today i still love it =)
hmm.. somehow different songs remind me different stages of my life and they serve well to mark my timeline. for instance, during bmt days, i kept listening to "no matter what" and "candy kisses" (somehow they were being played repeatedly over FM); medic days i was listening to sammi's chu jie etc etc.
In a way they brought back memories, be it fond or bad, every time when i listened to that song again. Just like photographs and autographs. which is why i buy quite a lot of CDs, take a lot of photos (then) and kept my childhood autograph books till now.
oh yea, so i bought tanya's CD and i am listening to it now =) gonna bring to camp tomorrow cos i dun think i will have time to finish the whole 2 CDs. getting late and i need to koon =] b4 that, shall share this song with u.
i just woke up at around 1pm! cos i slept at 7am only, was out for the night. still feeling tired and having a mild headache; and was caught in the rain in the wee hours; and now it is so sunny outside which is, of course, not conducive for sleeping sighZ.
i accidentally ate some beef yesterday, we had this indian roti-prata kinda of stuff (i forgot the name), except that in between the layers of flour they have onions and..meat. so after eating quite a lot oredi, i was told that it is beef. hiakz i should have asked b4 i ate (think i was quite sleepy AND hungry then oredi). sorry to my parents and buddha, pls forgive me.
there is this new program called window live messenger (newer version of MSN)in the beta stage, and apparently u can send offline msgs! though not very stable.. am trying to download and install and see how good/bad it is.
my dad was sick since yesterday and was on mc. sighz.. sick b4 father's day. last month my mum was also not feeling too well prior to mother's day.
which means, we dun have to be passive smokers anymore when we want to have fried oyster/dang hoon/carrot cake/chicken rice etc etc =) well the vendors are saying that they may suffer a 30% drop in business. isn't worthwhile in exchange for health?

i forgot to mention that the fish in the office passed away on 12 Jun monday. apparently it went berserk that evening, swimming around violently and knocking itself against the tank, and died overnight. sighzzz dunno what had happened. loi would probably be the saddest of all (though he din really show it), since the fish came roughly the same time as him to the department.
sorry i have to bitch and grumble a bit to make me feel better. but what's considered a meeting when those who turned up are internal personnel and even the chairman of the meeting did not turn up?! bloody hell waste my time only...arrrgh.

boss is back today..and tomorrow got a meeting to discuss about the next 5 year plan and review the previous 5 years! omg, i can't fit myself anywhere in the timeline, how to discuss? hopefully i don't have to go, but i doubt so, cos boss may want me to go with him. Somemore tomorrow on duty, not supposed to leave the camp for the whole day and night... sighz see how tomorrow lah.

i first watched world cup in 1990 italy, when i was in pri sch, and i remembered last time i used to have this sticker book and we will buy packets of stickers with footballers on them and we will try to complete the whole book. my fav team was argentina then. they were in the finals but lost.
1994- i was in sec sch and i remembered quite a lot of us were like late for the art lessons (1st 2 lessons) then. and i remembered the art teacher was quite a bore and irritating, making us paint some nonsense.
1998- france. can't remember much, just knew that they won in their own country. croatia was my fav then, cos they were relatively new in this area but nice shots!
2002- probably the most vibe and hype world cup around in this region, cos it was held in Korea-Japan, and finally we can watch in the day (not waking up in the middle of the night to watch)cos of the minor time difference. brazil won for the 5th time in history.
and now 2006. quite fast come to think of it, though 4 years seem long by figure.
i have chilli crabs for dinner today! one of my all-time favs heheh. my other favourites include: 2)fried kway teow 3)fried carrot cake 4)fried dang hoon 5)pig kidney/liver/small intestine/large intestine/organ soup/kway chap; there used to be pig blood but i think it is banned in singapore oredi. heard taiwan got ;-) 6)hainan chicken rice with gien3 (this delicious part of chicken's organ.. dunno which part, but trust me, it tastes damn good!) 7)century egg porridge 8)fried oyster 9)BBQ stingray 10)clams and lala 11)chicken soup and all sorts of soups my mum cooks 12)fishballs 13)fried chicken wings 14)and more which i can't think of now..
anyway, damn cold today.. outside feels like in aircon room. heavy rain... lucky din realli dampen my mood. but initially wanted to do some shopping, somehow i figured that itz quite difficult to manuveur myself in the rain with bags of stuff, so drop the idea. maybe next week or so. and yeah i have finished all my weekend duties/calls/etc etc, unless somebody or smurves decide to come up with some standby crap again!
life can be quite fragile and unpredictable at times. came across quite a couple of news of people around my age recently. first it was joan (i wrote about her a couple of weeks ago, the girl who had advanced ca tougue and passed away peacefully last month); then today i found out from the sunday times that lena, a 21 y/o gymastics champion had a fatal RTA in Canada. and lastly, abt a houseman adrian who was caught with drugs and put behind bars for 8 months, and there goes his future. sighzzz =(
ok on a lighter note, tanya got best female vocalist in yesterday's taiwan pop award! yet another singaporean song-bird who clinches this title, after yanzi. oh yeah, yanzi is so pretty and sexy in her beige dress yesterday! =) and she kissed tanya! if only..... heheh

i hate it when people walk too slow and block my path. especially those who are 1)couples who walk in twos 2) groups of family/friends, who practically block the whole pavement. can't they be more considerate? or at least try to walk faster la.
i also hate it when two people stand side by side in the same step of the escalator during peak hours. sometimes when i am peeved and irritable, i will just push my way through. haha i can be quite rude at times too.
watched the NUN today, a horror movie. well actually not too scary, except those scenes when she suddenly appears with the added sound effects. it's about this nun (who was quite wicked to begin with) who was killed by students from a domiciliary school and came back to take revenge in the form of a water spirit. shui3 gui3! well she managed to kill all of them. and a lot of kids in the threatre! nowadays children are so brave, and noisy.. i think i will give it 3 out of 5 stars.
quite a lot of horror movies coming up btw, but i heard and read that the omen wasn't too impressive, hence i din watch.

went for lunch at clementi today and I had my fried dang hoon. Yeah! This is one of my favourite dishes =) but the serving is too small.. i had to eat another yam cake to fill my stomach. then went for meeting and discussion with wk et al and grace regarding the new project. And guess what? I saw willy! Yes, my ex-secondary school classmate for 4 years! Initially I still didn’t realize cos he came late (apparently he is also involved in this new project) and he entered from the door behind me. So throughout the discussion, I din really look at him until towards the end. yah i am that cock and blur haha.. Then he called me by my chinese name (not a lot of people do that nowadays, unless those who know me well or long enough), then I scrutinized a bit and recognized him! Actually come to think of it, I did notice a willy on the board when I first came to DSO lab last time but I din pay much attention to it. What a small world! and he commented that now he has to beg money from me to proceed on with their new project, when last time i have to beg from him!! muahahaha! well i was the treasurer last time in sec sch..
Went for the virology discussion organized by bh next at DMERI building with this prof from russia. gosh the accent is so strong! a quarter of the time i can't make out what she is trying to say. but nvmd, they have the discussion typed out and flashed out the screen for us to look at.
then went for RT cover at maju. hmm.. someone who is a stay-in personne actually reported sick! i tot they can't, cos maju is not 24h med ctr and i am only supposed to cover RT that is. but anyway, it doesn't really matter to me lah. i am just afraid that logistically wise may poise a problem, cos we are not supposed to prescribe any medicine, but i did! cos he got fever. wanted to give att C but he said even if att C he will stay in bunk one. so i gave 2/7 att B and some anarex.

just reached home not too long ago and i am now eating this delicious durian puff cos i am feeling hungry now. seems to feel hungry very easily. high metabolic rate.. tonite had dinner with my good frenz at cha cha cha mexican restaurant @ holland v to celebrate em's birthday (minus the cake... anyway u oredi had one from your dept wat..) the second time i am here; the first time was 2 yrs ago during my O and G days when we had the farewell dinner for HOs.
somehow the food seems to be more tasty this time round. maybe becos we shared the food around. more variety heh =) also last time got other people like the profs, so half the fun yah. we ordered the prawn, some hot plate chicken and the fish. sorry i can't remember the exact names, neither can i pronounce them. dun really like the mexican rice though, cos i thought there is a particular abnn smell.
tokking abt O and G. i copied my 2 files of diary into my thumbdrive and brought to office to print heh. the printer in office is quite cool cos u can print 2 pages on one side, can save some spaces (and ink). read through some entries and it really brought back memories of what happened 2 yrs ago! and quite funny.. itz like some thoughts remained the same after 2 yrs! i mentioned i wanted to take fluoxetine then, and now i still said the same thing hahahah.. so keeping a diary/blog is a good thing lah, though can be quite troublesome and time-consuming at times.
tomorrow got RT cover sianzzz. i shan't be too early this time round, else have to wait and stone. anyway i got meeting in the morning and seminar in the early afternoon, dunno when it will end.

went for a haircut today finally; was supposed to have an appointment at 6pm but i was there early at around 5.30pm, so decided to cut my hair. was planning for quite some time but somehow, of the previous 2 times i went, first was too crowded and the second time it was closed. was thinking whether i should go for an expensive cut or a cheap-cheap barber cut, but well... since i have no one significant to impress upon currently, i shall settle with a cheap one. save some cash heh.
nowadays i have been keeping up reading a particular blog that i feel so engrossed with! it's like i am looking fwd to reach home soon so that i can see what's new is up on the blog. very personal and emotionally truthful kind which i like; and the best thing is i know who wrote it! maybe that's why..
i have gone to make a new pair of spectacles just now, as recommended by em since she knows the guy there. and so coincidental, this guy also helps to make the smurf's lenses too! cos i told him i am in the army, ns camp and he said do u know the oc and pc from my dept, then i saw the link! ok if dun understand nvmd, the main point is this is such a small world!
initially i had 3 shortlisted frames, then down to 2 cos the guy said the other one can't fit in the lenses. so forget it.. though i tot that was quite a slick one, with the earpiece parts being quite think. then down to one, then choose colour. finally settled with blue (one of my fav colour) over the red one becos the red one, somehow reminds me of my old black-rimmed specs!

so i managed to get a discount for the specs. i am using back my old lenses from my o-biang MOCC black-rimmed specs cos i dun see the point of making new lenses. and my lenses are usually quite expensive since my degrees are sky high. hmmm actually my old frame is not that old, cos i made it esp for mocc one. now i dun think i am ever going to use it.
phewww.. finally the weekend call for the month is over! quite busy in terms of the ops duty, as usual lah, saigang warrior, have to make sure that the flight is confirmed, the loads are in, prepare powerpoint slides etc etc. but ok lah this weekend call doesn't appear to be too long cos got company- my buddy is around for IISS standby too.
was quite bo liao at certain period of time. tried to blog but cannot, think we can't run javascript in camp. what the heck. now i have to try to recall what i wanted to write about. was chatting with one of the ops clerks to find out more about this department i am working in, and managed to squeeze out some juicy news haha. sorry.. i can be quite gossipy at times, esp at times when i am damn bored. He was saying that monica (one of the highest ranking secretaries around) used to be a commando?!?! hmmm.. doesn't look like one, although she behaves like haha. come to think of it, i have never seen her eating lunch before. she is hell lot of a character; even our admin assistant is so scared of her. hmmm.. one of my objectives during my services here shall be to melt her stone heart and make her more humane! haha. my first encounter with her was last week when there was some commotion regarding this JMCR meeting. anyway i reckon that as a secretary, she is deemed very capable. oh ya we were joking that if only her surname is "Cheng", so her full name will be monica cheng (touch your butt)!! so to all those "Chengs" out there, dun name your daughter monica!
ok enuff of her. too long a paragraph for someone whom i hardly know. went for a movie today- over the hedge. a hilarious show, and it is about food and family relationship! food- all time favourite. family- who can live without. short, light-hearted, humourous and entertaining, esp after a whole day/night of call. the part when one character (oops i forgot the name.. short term memory loss) becomes hypersonic and superfast, they made in such a way that he was at a normal pace and the rest were like stunned and in slow motion. and there is a hidden scene at the end of the credits too! (we stayed throughout again, yeah..) but well.. lame scene lah.. will give it a 4 out of 5. oh yah, also bought a friend's bdae present. seems quite a long while since i last shopped for presents. in fact, seems quite a long time since i last shopped! i have been hibernating.. and must make full use of this great singapore sale!
i came across quite a nice english song over the net (from someone's blog). and i am quite mesmerised by the tune of it. think it is a local self-composed song.. vocals are good too. and i have been like listening to it for at least 10 times today oredi!
finally watched X-men 3 after the show was first screened like one week ago. Impressive i must say, i will give it 4 out of 5 stars, cos the whole movie is so full of action that i dun even need a second to look at my watch (which i normally do, esp when it is a very long show...). and yeah i stayed throughout the whole show with the cast and credits, cos i already knew that there will be a hidden scene after the credits. well just a 5 second scene to tell us that one character whom we presume dead actually did not, cos he/she has transferred his mind to somewhere at the moment when he/she is killed.
Phoenix is cool! in fact i think she makes up half of the show, but well by right phoenix doesn't die. i like the last few scenes when she demostrated her power. Wolverine has the most exposure i think, just becos it is cast by Jack Hughman. Maybe the show should be renamed Wolverine III instead. and since when did he become the first-in-command after Professor X died? should be Storm (after Cyclops)! And Storm is damn lousy! she even lost to a newbie.. gosh. Mystique bares it all heh.
So overall it is something worth your 9.50 bucks, though quite short for a blockbuster. Storyline derailed quite a bit from the real comic/cartoon, but i guess that's the same for all comic-turned-movie shows, so no hard feelings about that =)
food for thought. the minority, in this case the mutants. The cure, if available, would u go for it, like rogue, to be as normal as the majority? or would u heck it and enjoy while u live? for me, i am not too sure. if to be a minority allows me to equip with power (that i can control), i dun see why not heh. but no one must know that i have this power haha =)
ok i am damn proud of myself! i have managed to revamp my blogsite after spending like 3 hours on it, trying all sorts of design templates, editing the text fonts/colour/positioning and arrangement. and finally it is done! yeah =)
well as i mentioned in my previous post, i am not very IT-savvy (note that i said "not very", meaning that to some extent, i still know a teeny weeny bit of IT stuff lah, as compared to the general population). so i think it is considered as a major accomplishment on my part, bearing in mind that i dun really know those html codes and stuff, so i just looked and copied, tried a bit here and there, and finally the work is done! though i did spend quite a hell lot of time on it. It turns out well isn't it? as least much to my expectations lah..
next time i shall put in my own photo creation when i have the time, but then it may mean more work, as the background colours, font types etc must suit the overall image. and yea i deserve to take a rest now....=p
feeling much better now after taking maxalon and panadol. otherwise was feeling quite nausea this morning that i can't even finish my food. great to feel good..
just reached home not too long ago, i was on this standby mode becos of some ops going on that last for three days and i am covering for today. stood down at around 2330 and so i quickly rushed home =) si bei boliao.
oh yah, as some of u know by now, java had an earthquake and singapore, being the kind and generous soul as always, has decided to lend a helping hand. and SAF is of cos involved in this mission. and we, back in HQ, have to be on alert 24 hours - to check emails, check CNA, check newspapers, check phone calls, prepare powerpoint slides etc etc for any new updates and then update everybody the next morning. and yes, i am not spared in this solemn mission as i happen to be the duty officer on sunday. hummph.. hope nothing major happens! Shouldn't have swapped my duty eh.. else i wouldn't have gana this. but i guess it is an experience lah.
feeling real lousy today, so headed for home immediately after work. was surfing around reading blogs etc and this brings me to the point. how real and thorough should the entries be? some of the entries that i read are like so deep into the very teeny weeny details, whereas some are as superfluous like mine. ya i dun really write a lot about my personal stuff in blogs as u can see by now, cos firstly, i dun even know who will be reading them; and secondly why is there a need for me to do that? cos the outcome will still be the same- read and forget. and also on top of that, i already have a diary to write on which i include everything and for my own reading pleasure maybe 10 years down the road to see how childish/naive/silly/problematic i was then. i din include good points, cos i think one should and will only grow to be a better man ritez.
so what happened today? nothing major. just a lot of shit work and email conversing. sianz tomorrow still got a meeting to attend to where all the big shots will be there. all regulars except myself the lowest being there. i still remembered last week when i was there.. quite sianz and irritated, cos usually after a meeting, it means that there will be more work to do and follow-up subsequently. that's just my life for now, and i think i shouldn't complain too much, cos that's not going to change much of my life now.. at least for the next 17 months =(.
NOMAD was today and tomorrow, but i din go lah.. and i mentioned earlier in the first line of this entry, i was feeling real lousy. itz been so long since i have this kind of PMS feeling already. probably need some fluoxetine. humph =p
Tomorrow will be a long day and night for me, for the obvious reason. and Sunday too.
